CHICAGO - Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, is pleased to co-sponsor of the Indian American Bar Association's (IABA) First Annual Banquet, which will be held on September 18, 2009 at The Fairmont Chicago in Chicago, IL. The banquet will feature cocktails, dinner and keynote speaker J. Ashwin Madia. Brinks attorney Manish K. Mehta currently serves as the president-elect of the IABA.
Mr. Madia is an attorney based in Minnesota who has served in the United States Marine Corps in Iraq and ran for the U.S. House of Representatives for Minnesota in 2008. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and received his J.D. from the New York University School of Law.
The IABA-Chicago was established in 2000 as an association to serve the South Asian legal community in Chicago. Since its inception, the members of IABA-Chicago have organized mentor programs for South Asian law students, participated in a pro bono clinic, organized a luncheon-speaker series, developed and enhanced various methods of communication to foster improved interaction among the members of the organization, and created a membership directory for the South Asian legal community.
