CHICAGO - Bruce Weisseg, Chief Operating Officer of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione and Kelly J. Eberspecher, (veteran, U.S.N. SEAL Team 2) a shareholder at Brinks, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, accepted the "Above and Beyond Award" on behalf of the firm at the Illinois Committee on Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Annual Awards Banquet, held on March 20, 2009 at the Union League Club of Chicago.
"Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione joins thousands of employers who have demonstrated their support of service in the National Guard and Reserve by going above and beyond the statutory requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act Law," said John Scully, ESGR State Chair, in a press release issued by the Illinois ESGR.
In August 2008, the firm was nominated for the ESGR's "My Boss is a Patriot Award" by Brinks patent attorney, Igor V. Dubinsky, who is a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve, currently on active duty. Mr. Dubinsky nominated Brinks for the award in appreciation of the firm's continued support during his service in the armed forces. As a recipient of the award, Brinks was recognized with ESGR's "Above and Beyond Award", given to employers who have exceeded the legal requirements in granting leave to employees for service in the Guard and Reserve.
Founded in 1972, the ESGR is a volunteer organization, sponsored by the Department of Defense that works to gain employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by recognizing those employers who deliver outstanding support of our military.
Founded in 1917, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione is based in Chicago with five additional offices across the country serving the intellectual property needs of clients from around the world. The firm is one of the largest IP law firms in the country, with more than 170 attorneys, scientific advisors and patent agents specializing in intellectual property litigation and all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition, intellectual asset management, and technology and licensing agreements.
