Legal Industry Celebrates Release of Handelman’s Trademark Treatise

CHICAGO - Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., and The John Marshall Law School hosted a reception celebrating the publication of Guide to TTAB Practice, a two-volume treatise, written by Brinks shareholder Jeffery A. Handelman. The reception took place on February 23, 2009 at the University of Chicago's Gleacher Center in Chicago, IL.

Guests of the event were welcomed with opening remarks from Brinks president Gary M. Ropski and John E. Corkery, Dean of The John Marshall Law School. Georgetown University Law Center professor, Sherman L. Cohn, presented an introduction to Guide to TTAB Practice and the Honorable Milton I. Shadur, Judge, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, graced the audience with his comments on legal writing and the practice of law.

Guide to TTAB Practice, published by Aspen Publishers, provides an in-depth analysis of cases before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, the administrative tribunal of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that decides trademark proceedings. The book offers detailed guidance for successfully handling of TTAB cases, from the initial filing of a case through appeal.

Mr. Handelman focuses his practice on trademark, unfair competition, trade dress, dilution, false advertising, copyright, trade secret and Internet-related matters. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from the University of Illinois.
