Twenty-Five Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Attorneys Named 2009 "Illinois Super Lawyers"
Fifteen Attorneys Named "Illinois Rising Stars"

CHICAGO - Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, is pleased to announce that 25 of its attorneys have been named "Illinois Super Lawyers" for 2009 in a survey conducted by Law & Politics magazine. Additionally, 15 Brinks attorneys have been designated "Rising Stars" in Illinois.

Meredith Martin Addy, chair of the Appellate Group at Brinks, was named one of the Top 50 Female Illinois Super Lawyers for the fifth consecutive year and one of the Top 100 Illinois Super Lawyers across all practice areas. Laura Beth Miller, chair of the International Trade Commission Group, was also listed as one of the Top 50 Female Illinois Super Lawyers for the third consecutive year. Gary M. Ropski, president of Brinks, Richard A. Kaplan, chair of the Trade Secret Group, and James R. Sobieraj, a shareholder and former chair of the Litigation Group, were named among the Top 100 Illinois Super Lawyers across all practice areas.

Law and Politics surveyed more than 47,000 Illinois lawyers, representing 70 practice areas, and asked them to identify the best Illinois lawyers they had personally worked with or had observed in action. Attorneys from firms of all sizes were considered as well as those in private practice, prosecutors, in-house counsel and public service lawyers.

The "Rising Stars" category recognizes lawyers that are under the age of 40 or have been in practice for 10 years or less. While up to 5 percent of lawyers in the state are named to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.

The complete list of Illinois Super Lawyers appears in the 2009 Illinois Super Lawyers magazine, which features articles about attorneys named to the list, and in select consumer magazines and is distributed to all attorneys in the state, the lead corporate counsel of the Russell 3000 and ABA-approved law school libraries.
