Manish K. Mehta Elected President-Elect of the Indian American Bar Association of Chicago

CHICAGO - Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, is pleased to announce that attorney Manish K. Mehta has been elected president-elect of the Indian-American Bar Association (IABA) of Chicago. In addition, nine new board members have been named to the association's 2009 Board of Directors. All will be inaugurated in January, 2009 at a ceremony and reception to be held at Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione in Chicago.

As president-elect, Mr. Mehta will be responsible for overseeing the general direction of IABA-Chicago and public relations initiatives of IABA-Chicago within the community. In addition, he will be a key advisor to the president and will assume the presidency of the association in 2010.

Mr. Mehta's intellectual property law practice focuses on patent litigation and prosecution. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School and his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois.

IABA-Chicago was established in 2000 as an association to serve the South Asian legal community in Chicago. Since its inception, the members of IABA-Chicago have organized mentor programs for South Asian law students, participated in a pro bono clinic, organized a luncheon-speaker series, developed and enhanced various methods of communication to foster improved interaction among the members of the organization, and created a membership directory for the South Asian legal community.
