Michael Chu Appointed to the Board of Directors of the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms

CHICAGO - Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, announced today that shareholder Michael P. Chu has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms. The Chicago Committee was founded in 1987 by minority lawyers as a networking and support organization for minority lawyers practicing in large law firms.

"I am honored and excited to be serving on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Committee and am looking forward to serving the mission of the organization," said Mr. Chu. Mr. Chu's practice includes all aspects of patent law relating to mechanical, digital electronics and electro-mechanical arts, including litigation, opinions and prosecution. He is the former president of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), current president of the NAPABA Law Foundation and also sits on the Board of Directors of the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago and the Asian American Institute, an affiliate of the Asian American Justice Center.

Brinks is a member of the Chicago Committee and several of the firm's attorneys hold positions throughout the organization and participate in panel discussions, mentor programs and sponsorships.

The Chicago Committee is a preeminent voice and agent fostering racial and ethnic diversity in the Chicago legal community, impacting the broader legal profession. The organization provides programs and mentoring opportunities as a way to ease the feelings of seclusion for minorities in big law firms and has expanded their efforts to include minority law students, associates and partners.
