CHICAGO – Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., is pleased to announce that Jeffery A. Handelman, chair of the Trademark Group at the firm, has been elected to the Board of Directors for the Chicago Intellectual Property Alliance (CIPA). Brinks is a founding member of CIPA.

At CIPA’s 2^nd annual “IP Day in Chicago,” Mr. Handelman spoke on recent Supreme Court decisions in the trademark field. He focuses his practice on trademark, unfair competition, trade dress, dilution, false advertising, copyright, trade secret and licensing matters. He is also involved in Internet-related litigation and counseling. Mr. Handelman has extensive litigation experience in the Federal Court and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Handelman received his B.A. from the University of Illinois and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.

CIPA is a non-profit organization that works to promote the Chicago and Midwest region as a vibrant center for the development and management of intellectual property and partners with law schools, intellectual property practitioners, law firms and businesses to promote new ideas and educational programs in the area of intellectual property.
