Twelve New Associates, Scientific Advisor Join Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione

CHICAGO - Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., is pleased to announce that twelve new associates and a scientific advisor have recently joined the firm.

"We are excited to have such a talented and diverse group of associates joining the firm," said Gary M. Ropski, president of Brinks. "It continues to be essential that we hire top talent with the requisite computer, science and engineering backgrounds to provide exceptional client service. We have also enhanced our Trademark Group with the addition of two outstanding associates. And we welcome Yuanlin Shen who joins our firm as a scientific advisor with significant experience as a patent attorney in China."

The new associates are:

Uma Bansal holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. from Boston College School of Law. Ms. Bansal was a summer associate with the firm last summer.

Jeffrey J. Catalano has a B.A. in International Studies from Miami University and received his J.D. in May from Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Catalano worked as a summer associate with the firm last summer and will now focus his practice in the area of trademark law.

Robert R. Cleary, Jr. has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and received his J.D. from the University of Michigan. Mr. Cleary was a member of the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review and was a summer associate with the firm last year.

Michael G. Dreznes received a B.S. in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He received his J.D. in May from the University of Illinois College of Law. Mr. Dreznes was a summer associate with the firm last summer.

John E. Haugen has a B.S. in Chemistry from Saint Louis University and received his J.D. from Washington University where he was a member of the Law Review.

Manish K. Mehta holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois and received his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in May where he was an Executive Board Member of The Law Review. Mr. Mehta was a summer associate with the firm last summer.

Michelle A. Miller has a B.A. in English and Government from Georgetown University and received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law this past May. Ms. Miller was a summer associate with the firm last year and will now focus her practice in the area of trademark law.

Rashad L. Morgan holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Florida A&M University and received his J.D. this May from the University of Cincinnati College of Law where he was an Executive Board Member of the Law Review. Mr. Morgan was a summer associate with the firm last summer.

Adil Musabji holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He received his J.D. in May from Northern Illinois University College of Law. Mr. Musabji was a summer associate with the firm during the summer of 2005.

Bonnie R. Shaw earned both a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a J.D. from Michigan State University, where she was a member of the Journal of International Law. Ms. Shaw will be based out of Brinks' Ann Arbor office.

Jennifer J. Theis received a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame. She earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in May and was a summer associate with the firm last summer.

Anthony Y. Wen received a B.S. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He earned his J.D. this past May from Loyola University Chicago School of Law where he was a Board Member of the Law Journal.

Yuanlin Shen joins the firm as a scientific advisor. Dr. Shen has more than ten years of experience in the area of intellectual property law in China. While a Chinese patent attorney, he represented many large Chinese companies in litigation cases involving patent, trademark, copyright and unfair competition. At Brinks, his practice focuses on international patent and trademark application, license and counseling, domestic litigation preparation, prosecution and registration. Dr. Shen earned his Master of Legal Institutions (LLM) from the University of Wisconsin Law School in May. He received his Bachelor of Law degree from Shaanxi Normal University in Xi'an, China, and his M.D. from Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences in Guangzhou, China.
