Chicago Intellectual Property Alliance (CIPA) Presents Science Fair Awards

CHICAGO - At the annual Chicago Student Science Fair held recently at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Jerome Gilson (left), CIPA vice-president and a trademark attorney with the intellectual property law firm, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the founder law firms of CIPA, presents a plaque and the $500 first prize award for “Most Inventive” to Shaun Humes, (far right), a freshman at Walter Payton Preparatory High School. Shaun’s entry was entitled, “The Turbine-Controlled RAM Air Intake” and he has already investigated the possibility of patenting his invention. 

Also pictured is Midori Maeda (partially hidden), who was awarded the $300 prize for second place for her entry, “Alternative Mosquito Control with a Crustacean,” a project conceived by the seventh grader at Inter-American High School when she encountered a swarm of irritating mosquitoes. Ameen Abdulrasool (second from left) of Lane Tech High School won the third prize and $200 for his project entitled, “GPS Navigation Means of Travel for the Blind,” an invention designed to help the visually impaired navigate city streets and other areas new to them.

CIPA judges included attorneys from law firms and corporations that founded the Chicago Intellectual Property Alliance as well as law students from CIPA founders, Chicago Kent College of Law and Loyola Law School.
