CHICAGO — Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, for the second consecutive year, has been recognized by Intellectual Property Today magazine as one of the top 20 patent firms in the country.

“We are pleased to continue to increase our patent work and move up in the listing. It demonstrates the depth and full range of intellectual property law services we offer to our clients,” said Brinks President Jerold A. Jacover

Intellectual Property Today is one of the leading legal IP publications and determines its rankings according to the total number of U.S. patents that firms issued on behalf of their clients. In 2004, Brinks issued 1,119 patents, up from 971 in 2003, making the firm one of the top three firms for intellectual property in Chicago.

In a new listing this year, Brinks also ranked in the top 20 of utility patent firms in the country, again based upon the total number of U.S. utility patents issued. The firm issued 989 utility patents and 130 design patents.

Founded in 1917, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione is based in Chicago with four other offices across the country and serves the intellectual property needs of clients from around the world. The firm is one of the largest IP law firms in the country, with approximately 150 attorneys who specialize in intellectual property litigation and all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and Internet work, unfair competition, and technology and licensing agreements.
