James R. Sobieraj of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Makes BTI Client Service All-Star Team for Law Firms

CHICAGO — Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione is pleased to announce that James R. Sobieraj, a shareholder in the firm’s Chicago office, has been selected to the BTI Client Service All-Star Team for Law Firms. He is the only attorney listed who is from an IP boutique.

“It is no surprise that corporate counsel singled out Jim Sobieraj as someone who provides outstanding service in the field of IP litigation,” said Jerold A. Jacover, president of Brinks. “Jim has always placed a strong emphasis on client service and this honor is a well-deserved recognition of the effort he makes on a daily basis to ensure the best possible service to our clients.”

The BTI Consulting Group of Boston interviews more than 200 individual corporate counsel at Fortune 1000 companies each year. Their clients are also surveyed to determine their satisfaction with the firms and attorneys alike. Only those attorneys whose names were mentioned by their clients, in an unprompted manner, as having delivered exceptional client service have been named to the BTI Client Service All-Star Team. This year, 114 attorneys were selected nationwide.

Mr. Sobieraj has more than 20 years of experience in the procurement, licensing and enforcement of intellectual property rights. He has been lead counsel in cases involving patent infringement, ownership of patent rights, license disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, trade dress infringement, unfair competition, false advertising, defamation, fraud, RICO and antitrust. His litigation experience includes bench and jury trials, temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions, Markman hearings, appeals and various forms of alternate dispute resolution.

Mr. Sobieraj received his B.S. in Engineering, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 1979. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1982.

Founded in 1917, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione is based in Chicago with four other offices across the country and serves the intellectual property needs of clients from around the world. The firm is one of the largest IP law firms in the country, with approximately 150 attorneys who specialize in intellectual property litigation and all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and Internet work, unfair competition, and technology and licensing agreements.
