David S. Fleming of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Appointed Co-Chair for INTA's 2007 Annual Meeting

CHICAGO — David S. Fleming, a shareholder at Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, has been appointed Co-Chair of the 2007 Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA). 

“This appointment is an exciting opportunity for me to continue working with the leading trademark practitioners in this country and around the globe,” said Mr. Fleming.

The 2007 INTA Annual Meeting will take place in Chicago from April 28 to May 2, and will likely see more than 7,000 professionals entering the city for five days. The Annual Meeting is one of the most important events in the intellectual property industry, and the largest and most prestigious gathering of trademark professionals in the world. This year’s conference in San Diego is expected to draw more than 6,500 people from over 140 countries.

Mr. Fleming has participated in a number of recent INTA events, including serving as Co-Chair of the 2004 Trademark Administrator’s Conference in Arlington, Virginia, and speaking about dilution at the Famous and Well-Known Marks Forum in Brussels. He currently serves on the INTA Programs Committee, and has also been a member of the faculty for INTA's Trademark Trial Advocacy program in Chicago. In addition, Mr. Fleming will be one of the trial attorneys in a mock jury trial that will be presented at this year’s INTA Annual Meeting, which will take place May 14-18 in San Diego, California.

Mr. Fleming's practice is concentrated on trademark law. He focuses on litigation in federal courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, counseling and prosecution in the Patent and Trademark Office. He has represented a wide variety of trademark clients in services and manufacturing industries, including worldwide and nationwide companies engaged in a variety of fields and activities. He received his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1981, and earned his B.A. from Northwestern University in 1978.
