Lawrence G. Almeda Named Vice President of Asian American Bar Association of Michigan

Ann Arbor, Mich. — Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione is pleased to announce that Lawrence G. Almeda has been named Vice President of the Asian American Bar Association of Michigan. Mr. Almeda's term will run through June 2006. 

The Asian American Bar Association of Michigan seeks to increase awareness on issues of importance to the Asian American community, promotes improvements in the administration of justice and advancements in jurisprudence and serves the legal needs of the Asian American community of Michigan by supporting pro bono legal clinics and organizations. 

Mr. Almeda's practice at Brinks focuses on counseling and prosecution in all areas of intellectual property, with emphasis in patent matters and infringement and validity evaluations in the medical, chemical, and mechanical arts. 

In addition to his role with the Asian American Bar Association of Michigan, Mr. Almeda has served as the Chair of the Washtenaw County Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law Section since 2004. He also served as an Executive Council Member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Young Lawyers Section from 2002 to 2004. 

Mr. Almeda received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1991. In 1997, he earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy Law School where he served on the Law Review. Mr. Almeda earned his LL.M. in Intellectual Property from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 1999.
