James K. Cleland Joins Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione

CHICAGO — Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the nation’s largest intellectual property law firms, today announced that James K. Cleland has joined the firm as an Associate in the Ann Arbor office. Mr. Cleland will concentrate his practice on in the patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition and trade secret litigation, as well as on patent prosecution in the chemical and mechanical fields. Prior to joining Brinks, Mr. Cleland was a senior associate at Greenberg Traurig in Chicago, Illinois. He was also a summer associate at David Lundy & Associates, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and McGinty, Jakubiak & Hitch, East Lansing, Michigan.

Mr. Cleland received a B.S., cum laude, in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1994, and a J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington, Indiana, in 1997, where he was a semi-finalist and won the Best Brief Award in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition. 

Mr. Cleland is a member of the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
