Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione's Jerome Gilson and Roy Hofer Selected as Two of the Best Lawyers in America

CHICAGO — Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the nation, today announced that shareholders and senior partners, Jerome Gilson and Roy E. Hofer, have been selected by their peers to be included in the 2005-2006 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Both Mr. Gilson and Mr. Hofer are members of a distinguished group of attorneys who have appeared on the list for ten years or longer.

Jerome Gilson has specialized in trademark and unfair competition law for more than 40 years. He handles trademark trials and appeals in the federal courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, mediates trademark disputes and handles a wide variety of counseling and drafting in the field.

Roy E. Hofer is a trial lawyer specializing in patent, trade secret and related antitrust and contract matters. He has tried felony criminal cases and has represented the Illinois Pollution Control Board before the Illinois Supreme Court and the Illinois Appellate Court and the Clean Air Coordinating Committee before the Environmental Control Appeal Board of the City of Chicago.

Nomination to Best Lawyers is based on a far-reaching peer-review survey in which 16,000 leading attorneys throughout the country cast more than half a million “votes” on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their specialties. Lawyers are not required to pay a fee to be listed. Considered by some to be the definitive guide to legal excellence in the United States, Best Lawyers has been featured in Corporate Counsel magazine, The New York Times, Forbes and the Washington Post.

Founded in 1917, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione provides intellectual property legal services worldwide. The firm is one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the country, with approximately 150 attorneys who specialize in IP litigation and all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, Internet, unfair competition and related licensing matters.
