William H. Frankel Elected President of Lawyers for the Creative Arts

CHICAGO — Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione today announces that William H. Frankel, a shareholder of the firm, was elected President of Lawyers for the Creative Arts (LCA) at its annual meeting held on May 20. Mr. Frankel will succeed Scott Hodes, who has served as LCA’s president for the past four years. 

“I look forward to working with the talented LCA staff, Board and volunteer lawyers who give their all providing high quality pro bono legal service to our client artists and arts organizations,” said Mr. Frankel. 

William E. Rattner, Executive Director, said that the past four years has produced LCA’s greatest successes and that the next several years, under Mr. Frankel, will see LCA grow and continue to serve artists and arts organizations of every type. He added that for more than 31 years, LCA has been the Chicago area’s only provider of pro bono legal services specializing in all areas of the arts -- the visual, entertainment, performing and literary. 

Also, R. Thomas Howell, Jr., Seyfarth, Shaw, Kevin S. MacKinnon, KMZ Rosenman, and Mary Hutchings Reed, Winston & Strawn were elected Vice-Presidents. John Thompson Brown of Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon was re-elected Secretary and Alan Dalinka of Piper Rudnick, LLP was re-elected Treasurer. Scott Hodes will serve as Past President and Amy Cook, a publishing attorney and literary agent, was the only new director added to the existing Board.

Lawyers for the Creative Arts’ mission is to provide high quality, pro bono legal services to organizations and individuals in all areas of the arts – visual, literary, performance and entertainment. LCA primarily services the Metropolitan Chicago area, but also includes all of Illinois and neighboring states. Additionally, LCA provides educational outreach programs and workshops for artists, arts organizations and schools.
