CHICAGO — Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione ranks among the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, according to Managing Intellectual Property magazine’s second annual survey of biggest IP firms.
“Of the hundreds of IP practices in this country, few have the depth to service clients like we do,” said Brinks’ President Jerold A. Jacover. “When clients need a team of experienced IP attorneys and a deep bench as well, we are proud to be among the small number of firms that can offer them that.”
The magazine’s survey looks at the 30 biggest IP practices in the US, based on the number of fully-qualified lawyers as of July 1 this year. Practitioners are defined as attorneys who spend at least 75% of their time on IP work. The 30 largest firms had more than 100 practitioners and 13 of the 30 ranked firms are IP specialist firms.
Managing Intellectual Property, part of the Euromoney Legal Media Group, is an international magazine for IP owners, with more than 10,000 readers across the globe, three-quarters of which are senior in-house counsel in multinational companies.
Founded in 1917, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione is based in Chicago, with offices in San Jose, Calif., Indianapolis, Ind., Ann Arbor, Mich. and Arlington, Va. The firm is one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the country, with approximately 150 attorneys who specialize in intellectual property litigation and all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and Internet work, unfair competition and technology and licensing agreements.
