Chicago Attorney Wins International Trademark Association's President's Award

CHICAGO - Chicago attorney Jerry Gilson has won the International Trademark Association's (INTA) prestigious President's Award for 2001. Gilson, who heads the Trademark Practice at Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, was presented with the award at a ceremony in Naples, Florida, last week.

"The President's Award honors those individuals who have made outstanding and lasting contributions to the international trademark community," said INTA president Nils Victor Montan. "Jerome Gilson has indeed left his mark on educating the public about the value and integrity of trademarks and protecting owners against infringement."

Gilson has specialized in trademark and unfair competition law for nearly 40 years and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and eight United States Courts of Appeals. In 1998, Managing Intellectual Property magazine named Gilson the top trademark law practitioner in the world.

"It is extremely gratifying to receive this award," Gilson said. "In my many years of involvement with the Trademark Association, I have been privileged to meet outstanding people and leaders in the profession and to be involved in numerous changes affecting federal trademark law. I was thrilled to win this award. I will cherish it."
