Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Wins Pro Bono Award

CHICAGO - The intellectual property law firm Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione has won the 2001 Pro Bono Initiative Award from the Public Interest Law Initiative of Chicago (PILI). The award will be presented at a luncheon ceremony Thursday.

PILI Executive Director Roslyn C. Lieb said, "Brinks is first intellectual property firm in Chicago to establish an active pro bono program. The award stems from the firm's work with the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago, Lawyers for the Creative Arts and the Lake Michigan Federation."

"Brinks has set a very high standard for excellence in pro bono work," Lieb said. "The firm is one of the first intellectual property firms in the nation to become so immersed in this work, from the highest management attorneys to the newest associates. They truly are leaders."

Brinks President Jerold A. Jacover said he was grateful for the award. "This is a tremendous honor and I'm proud of the Brinks attorneys who have given so much to the Chicago community through their pro bono work. We're a better firm because of them."

For nearly 25 years, the Public Interest Law Initiative of Chicago, a nonprofit organization, has offered internships and fellowships for law students and new graduates who want to work at public interest law agencies in Chicago. Visit the organization at www.pili-law.org.
