Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Named Top Chicago Trademark Law Firm

CHICAGO - Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, was named the top Chicago trademark law firm for 2002 by Trademark Insider magazine. The firm was recognized as a regional leader in the publication's first-ever Trademark Insider Awards. This award is determined by calculating the number of times an individual law firm is listed in the correspondent field of all U.S. Patent & Trademark Office applications submitted during calendar year 2002.

"We have a wealth of experience in our trademark group and we are pleased to be recognized again for the work we have done on behalf of our clients," says Jeffery A. Handelman, head of the Trademarks and Unfair Competition Group at Brinks. The firm represents a host of clients in both domestic and international trademark matters, including United Airlines, Kimberly-Clark, Jockey, Wrigley, Bayer and Motorola, among others.

"We hope the annual awards will serve as a new benchmark for the trademark bar and give these industry leaders the recognition they deserve," notes Trademark Insider executive editor Mark McGuire in the publication's annual report. Trademark Insider is a quarterly magazine published by NameProtect, a digital brand protection company that conducts trademark research.

Founded in 1917, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione is based in Chicago, with offices in San Jose, Calif., Indianapolis, Ind., Ann Arbor, Mich. and Arlington, Va. The firm is one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the country, with approximately 150 attorneys who specialize in intellectual property litigation and all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and Internet work, unfair competition and technology and licensing agreements.
