Intellectual Property Law Firm Awards Scholarships to Law Students

CHICAGO - The intellectual property law firm Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione has awarded scholarships to recipients at three Chicago law schools for their extraordinary achievement in the intellectual property area.

Eric Mansell, of Portland, Oregon, graduated with honors from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Currently a third-year student at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, he received a $2,000 scholarship for Excellence in Intellectual Property. Mr. Mansell received the highest grade in the IP Law course.

Jeremy Noe, a December graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law, received a $1,000 scholarship that will be applied to his student loan. He was a member of the Chicago-Kent Law Review and IP Law Society. Mr. Noe received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois-Urbana. He also competed in the Giles S. Rich Patent Moot Court Competition. He is originally from Gurnee, Illinois.

Megan Valentine, a Chicago native, is a third-year day division student at Chicago-Kent College of Law. Ms. Valentine, a member of the Chicago-Kent Law Review, Black Law Student Association and the IP Law Society, also received a $1,000 scholarship. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Kristin Jakobsen, a third-year student at the University of Illinois College of Law, has received an award of $1,000. Ms Jakobsen, of Marion, Illinois, received the Juris Award for Best Paper in Copyright Law and won the Rickert Award for Outstanding Legal Writing for an article on new federal legislation regarding Patent Reexamination, which will be published soon. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Iowa.

Brian Kramer, also a third-year student at the University of Illinois College of Law, is a native of Bartonville, Illinois. A member of the University of Illinois Law Review and the Managing Editor of the Journal of Law, Technology and Policy, he received a $1,000 scholarship. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Valparaiso University.
