CHICAGO - Patent attorney James R. Sobieraj, a shareholder with the intellectual property law firm Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, has been nominated as President Elect of the Licensing Executives Society Inc. (U.S.A. and Canada) (LESI).
Sobieraj will begin his term as President Elect following an election by LESI members at the organization's Annual Meeting in October. He will begin a one-year term as President in September 2002.
"It is a great honor to be nominated president of this prestigious organization," said Sobieraj, who is a member of Brinks' Board of Directors. "As the importance of intellectual property transactions continues to grow," Sobieraj added, "it is vital that the next president of LESI maintains the group as the premier organization in this field. I intend to work hard to ensure that."
LESI is a professional society comprised of over 5,000 members engaged in the transfer, use, development, manufacture and marketing of intellectual property. The membership covers a wide range of professionals, including business executives, lawyers, licensing consultants, engineers, academicians, scientists and representatives of government. Sobieraj, 44, currently serves as LESI's Secretary, a position he has held since 1998. He has a J.D. and a B.S.E. (magna cum laude) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
