CHICAGO – Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the country, is pleased to announce that counsel attorney Jennifer L. Fox has joined the Research Triangle Park office and associate Glen McPherson has joined the firm’s Indianapolis office.
Ms. Fox has more than 15 years of experience as both a research scientist and a patent attorney in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, and will work with the firm’s practice groups in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, chemicals and patent prosecution. Her practice includes patent preparation and prosecution, opinion work, and all aspects ancillary to Hatch-Waxman litigation, including counseling on pre-litigation strategy, patent term extensions and non-patent exclusivities, patent listing issues, patent certifications and notice, 180-day marketing exclusivity, 30-month stays and follow on biologic and complex molecules.
Prior to joining Brinks, Ms. Fox was an attorney at Coats & Bennett, PLLC. Before that, she was an attorney for Novozymes North America, and a chemical and biopharmaceutical patent attorney and agent for GlaxoSmithKline.
Ms. Fox earned her J.D. from North Carolina Central University. She holds a M.S. in molecular biology and a B.S. in biology from The University of Toledo. She is a member of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, Women in Bio, and the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, as well as of the North Carolina Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Bar Association. Ms. Fox is a volunteer attorney for the North Carolina Lawyers for Entrepreneurs Assistance Program and was awarded the Lawyers Weekly Emerging Legal Leaders award in 2010.
Glen McPherson focuses his practice on patent preparation and prosecution in computer systems and methods, as well as software applications. He will be working with the firm's practice groups in the electrical and computer science sectors and with its patent prosecution group. Mr. McPherson earned his J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law and holds a B.S. in computer science from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar and has served on the board of directors for the Lebanon Educational Foundation.
