CHICAGO — The intellectual property law firm Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione is pleased to announce the opening today of a new office in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The firm is consolidating its Toledo, Ohio, and Detroit, Michigan, offices into the Ann Arbor location at 1000 Victors Way, Suite 100, (734) 994-6285.
“Ann Arbor is rapidly becoming a center for biotech and high-tech activity in Michigan, and from our indications, this is a strong growth market. We are now strategically positioned to better serve our clients in this location and it allows us to focus on establishing a significant presence in the region,” said Brinks President Jerold A. Jacover.
“We closed our satellite Detroit office at the end of 1999 and plan to close the Toledo office in about one month. Detroit held only office space for our attorneys to use as needed, so none of our clients or lawyers were affected by that closing,” said David D. Murray, managing partner of the Ann Arbor office. “All the lawyers from Toledo, including myself, have relocated to Ann Arbor and we’re providing a seamless transition for our clients. We expect to have a full-time staff of 4 to 5 lawyers within a year and will also have lawyers rotating their time here from Chicago.”
Murray, former managing partner in Brinks' Toledo office for three years, practices intellectual property law and has extensive patent experience in the mechanical and electro-mechanical disciplines with emphasis on motor vehicle power transmission and ignition system components, automotive, SUV and light truck accessories, pneumatic assembly tools, injection molding machines and molded plastic products.
Founded in 1917 in Chicago, Brinks Hofer is one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the country, with more than 100 attorneys in offices in San Jose, Calif., Indianapolis, Ind., Ann Arbor, Mich. and Arlington, Va. The firm's attorneys specialize in intellectual property litigation and all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret work, unfair competition and technology and licensing agreements.
