Brinks Adds Two Attorneys to Salt Lake City Office

SALT LAKE CITY – Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione is pleased to announce the addition of Craig Buschmann and John C. Bacoch to the firm’s Salt Lake City, Utah office. Mr. Buschmann, who focuses on patent, trademark and copyright law, joins as counsel and Mr. Bacoch, who specializes in patent prosecution in the mechanical arts, has joined the firm as an associate.

Craig Buschmann advises clients on all aspects of patent, trademark and copyright law, including drafting patent applications and responding to office actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His experience includes oil-field technology, such as well-bore sensor technology, hydrocarbon processing, and drill bits and drill-bit design processes; mechanical devices, including in aerospace and sporting goods; electrical devices, including semiconductors and semiconductor packaging; and medical device technology.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Buschmann worked for Schlumberger Oilfield Services as a field engineer on projects in Bolivia, Barbados and the Gulf of Mexico, including many of the first wildcat wells drilled in these areas. He specialized in all aspects related to drilling operations, with particular emphasis on logging-while-drilling, measurement-while-drilling, and process optimization.

Mr. Buschmann is a member of the American Bar Association in both the Intellectual Property and Litigation and Natural Resources Sections; he is also a member of the Salt Lake Bar Association and the Central Utah Bar Association. He also serves on the board of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and is a Director-at-Large of the Salt Lake City chapter of the University of Michigan Alumni Association. Mr. Buschmann earned his JD from Boston University School of Law and his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

John Bacoch focuses his practice on patent prosecution for clients in certain mechanical arts, as well as the computer hardware, networking and software industries. He has experience in the area of oil and gas exploration, aerospace, automotive, software, Internet, e-commerce, telecommunications, networking, hardware and Internet business models/methods. Mr. Bacoch also handles intellectual property matters involving litigation.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Bacoch developed processes for the production of medical devices for Rubicon Medical. He earned his JD from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University and his MBA from the University of Utah. Mr. Bacoch earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California and a BS in Physics from Westminster College. He is a member of the Intellectual Property Section of the Utah State Bar.
