Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Announces New Shareholder, Counsel, Associates and Scientific Advisors

CHICAGO - The intellectual property law firm Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione announced today that Paul E. Rauch has been named shareholder. In addition, three Counsel, one Of Counsel, 16 associates and three scientific advisors have joined the firm in the past year.

"We had another extremely strong year," said Brinks President Jerold A. Jacover. "I'm pleased that we were able to continue to grow and bring some very talented people on board."

The firm announced the following new shareholder and Counsel:

Paul E. Rauch, shareholder, specializes in patent prosecution, reexamination and appeals to the Board of Appeal and Interferences and opinions. He received a B.A. (with high honors) from Oberlin College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi, an M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Cornell University and a J.D. (with honors) from the National Law Center, George Washington University.

Douglas D. Fekete has joined the firm's Ann Arbor office as Counsel. He has experience in patent, trade secret and copyright law and specializes in domestic and foreign patent practice, licensing and opinions. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School.

A. James Richardson has joined the firm's Indianapolis office as Counsel. He specializes in all aspects of intellectual property practice, including prosecution of patents, licensing and litigation of intellectual property, protection of trade secrets, trademarks and publicity rights. He received an A.B. in Physics from Colorado State College, an M.A. in Science Education from the University of Northern Colorado, an M.A. in Physics from Indiana State University and a J.D. from the National Law Center, George Washington University.

Eric J. Sosenko has joined the firm's Ann Arbor office as Counsel. He specializes in patent and trademark work, including extensive international experience with the Patent Cooperation Treaty, Community Trademarks and the Hague Agreement. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a J.D. from West Virginia University.

James E. Stephenson has joined the firm's Ann Arbor office as Of Counsel. He received a B.S. from Iowa State University and an L.L.B. from Georgetown University.

The firm also announced that 14 new associates have joined the firm's Chicago office during the past year:

Adam D. Airhart received a B.S. and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan and a J.D. (magna cum laude) from The John Marshall Law School.

Dwayne L. Bentley received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Morgan State University and a J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law.

Malcolm J. Duncan received a D.Phil. in Physics from the University of Oxford, a B.Sc. (summa cum laude) in Mathematical Physics from the University of Edinburgh and a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.

Suzanne E. Eckes received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, an Ed.M. from Harvard University and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin School of Law.

Alejandro J. Fernandez received a B.S. in Biology from Palm Beach Atlantic College, a European Industrial Property Prosecution Certificate from Carlos III University in Madrid, Spain, and a J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center.

C. Noel Kaman received a B.S. in Biotechnology from the University of Kentucky (cum laude) and a J.D. (cum laude) from the National Law Center, George Washington University.

Joseph T. Kucala received a B.A. in Political Science from Loyola University Chicago and a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law.

Mike A. Massing received a B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering, Polymer Science Specialization, from Northwestern University, an M.S. in Materials Science & Engineering, Polymer Science Specialization, from the University of Illinois and a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law. 

A. John Murray, Ph.D. received a B.S. in Physics and a Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Manchester, England, and a J.D. (high honors) from Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Daymon L. Ruttenberg received a B.S. in Chemistry from John Carroll University and a J.D. (cum laude) from The John Marshall Law School.

Sean P. Springman received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (cum laude) from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a J.D. (magna cum laude) from Indiana University School of Law.

Bryan P. Sugar received a B.A. in English from the University of Wisconsin and a J.D. (with honors) from Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Mircea A. Tipescu received a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.

Mark D. Weis received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northern Illinois University and a J.D. from The John Marshall Law School.

The firm also announced that two new associates have joined the firm's Ann Arbor office during the past year:

Lawrence G. Almeda received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University, a J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and an L.L.M. in Intellectual Property from The John Marshall Law School.

Paula Schneider received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a J.D. (cum laude) from Michigan State University Detroit College of Law.

Additionally, three scientific advisors have joined the firm.

Sucheta S. Bhagat received a B.S. in Psychology and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Pune, India, and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Houston. She is enrolled in The John Marshall Law School.

Peter Brunovskis, Ph.D. received a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Michigan State University. He has also completed Post-Doctoral Studies at Case-Western Reserve University, with an emphasis on herpes virus/retrovirus biology, especially transcriptional regulation and protein-protein interactions.

Hilary Dorr Lang received a B.S. in Chemistry (with honors) from the University of California at Santa Cruz and an M.S. in Chemistry and a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from the University of Chicago.
