Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Announces New Hires and Promotions for Year

CHICAGO - The intellectual property law firm of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione announces that four attorneys have been named as shareholders and one as counsel, effective January 1, 2003. In addition, 19 associates and two scientific advisors have joined the firm this year.

"In a year when many firms have had to lay off, we're extremely pleased that we have been able to continue to grow and expand," said Brinks President Jerold A. Jacover. "We added new office space this year and have continued to hire and promote excellent attorneys."

The firm announces the following new shareholders and counsel:

Joseph F. Hetz specializes in patent prosecution in the electrical and computer arts. He has over 250 patent applications pending in the U.S. and international patent offices. Mr. Hetz received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago, the Federal Circuit Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

A. James Richardson, in the firm's Indianapolis office, formerly as Counsel, specializes in prosecution of patents, licensing and litigation of intellectual property, protection of trade secrets, trademarks and publicity rights. He has experience in a wide range of technologies, including plastic container manufacturing, other plastics molding, pavement resurfacing equipment, trailers and containerized cargo carriers and various machine and environmental control systems. Before joining the firm, Mr. Richardson was a partner at Locke Reynolds LLP in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was the chairman of the Intellectual Property practice group. He is a member of the Indiana and Virginia State Bar Associations and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He received an A.B. in Physics from Colorado State College, an M.A. in Science Education from University of Northern Colorado, an M.A. in Physics from Indiana State University and a J.D. from George Washington University.

Jason C. White specializes in patent prosecution and litigation in the electrical and computer arts. He received a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Marquette University and a J.D. (cum laude) from University of Dayton School of Law. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Thomas M. Williams specializes in trademark and unfair competition litigation, licensing and prosecution. He received a B.A. from University of Wisconsin and a J.D. from University of Illinois College of Law. He is a member of the University of Illinois Law Review and the International Trademark Association.

Katherine L. Tabor was named as Counsel and specializes in all aspects of patent, trademark and trade secret litigation as well as prosecution of both patent and trademark applications and the preparation of patent and trademark opinions. She is a member of the Federal Circuit Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association and is a lecturer on intellectual property issues at the Institute of Paralegal Studies at Loyola University in Chicago. Ms. Tabor received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Southern California and a J.D. (with high distinction) from Valparaiso University School of Law.

The firm also announces the following new associates who have joined the firm this year:

Paul Barenie received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University Calumet and a J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law.

Cyrus Bharucha received a B.A. in Biophysics and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rice University, a Ph.D. in Physics from The University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law.

Jill Hubbard Bowman received a B.S. in Medical Technology from Brigham Young University and a J.D. from University of Michigan Law School.

Scott W. Brim received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Dayton and a J.D. from University of Illinois College of Law.

Amanda M. Church received a B.A. in Chemistry from Capital University and a J.D. from Ohio State University.

Hugo A. Delevie, in the firm's Ann Arbor office, received a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering (cum laude) from the University of Michigan and a J.D. (magna cum laude) from the Detroit College of Law.

Jennifer M. Duk received a B.S. in Biology (summa cum laude) from Walsh University, a J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and is a Ph.D. Candidate in Biomedical Science at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine.

Dewayne A. Hughes, in the firm's Indianapolis office, received a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Evansville and a J.D. (summa cum laude) from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis.

Ryan B. Kennedy, in the firm's Ann Arbor office, received a B.A. in Physics and Philosophy from Swarthmore College and a J.D. from University of New Mexico School of Law.

John J. King received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois and a J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Samuel E. Shehadeh received a B.S. in Soil Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.

Joseph A. Yosick received a B.S. (with highest distinction) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a J.D. (magna cum laude) from the University of Illinois College of Law.
