Super Lawyers Magazine Names Ryan Marshall Rising Star

CHICAGO – For the third year in a row, Super Lawyers magazine has named Ryan L. Marshall, an associate in the Salt Lake City office of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, as a “Rising Star” in the Mountain States in the area of intellectual property law.

Every year, Super Lawyers presents a list of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas chosen by Law & Politics. The Rising Stars category recognizes top up-and-coming attorneys who are 40 years old or younger, or who have been practicing for ten years or less. Rising Stars are selected by peer nominations reviewed by an attorney-led research team. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state make the list.

Mr. Marshall has substantial experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical and biochemical arts. He counsels clients and prepares opinions relating to patentability, invalidity, infringement and enforceability issues. He has worked with a broad range of chemical technologies, particularly in the medicinal chemistry field including pharmaceuticals, synthetic methods, peptides, protein complexes and chelates, nucleosides, DNA sequence tags, point-of-care DNA diagnostics and DNA amplification. He has also assisted clients with design and utility patents for propellants, explosives, synthetic diamond drill bits, outdoor gear, eyewear, batteries and fuel cells, water softeners, packaging and medical devices, including stents and stent delivery devices.

Mr. Marshall is a member of the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, the American Chemical Society, the Utah State Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Owners Association and the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, and is a Leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He earned his MS in organic chemistry from Brigham Young University and has eight years of laboratory research experience.
