Public Interest Law Initiative Lauds Pro Bono Achievements of Brinks

CHICAGO – Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the country, has been named to the 2011 Pro Bono Recognition Roster by the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI). The recognition was announced at the Annual Pro Bono Reception: Celebrating Pro Bono on Wednesday, June 15, 2011.

“Brinks has supported PILI since at least 2000, and we are honored to be recognized for our pro bono efforts,” said Vincent J. Gnoffo, who chairs the firm’s pro bono program. “Pro bono work is deeply embedded in the culture of our firm, and we are enormously proud of the work our attorneys do for those who could not otherwise afford representation.”

Brinks was the first intellectual property law firm in Chicago to establish a formal pro bono program, and its attorneys have been actively involved with organizations such as Lawyers for the Creative Arts, Coordinated Advice and Referral Program for Legal Services, Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, National Immigrant Justice Center, Center for Disability and Elder Law, Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing and Cabrini Green Legal Aid Clinic.

Founded in 1977, the Public Interest Law Initiative is a prominent Chicago-based organization that cultivates a lifelong commitment to public interest law by creating opportunities for law students and lawyers to provide public interest and pro bono work in Illinois. PILI guides law students and attorneys to ensure equal access to justice through education, work experience and the delivery of legal services.
