CHICAGO – Gary M. Ropski, Jerold A. Jacover and Raymond W. Green, shareholders in the Chicago office of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, have been recognized as leading intellectual property lawyers in the Practical Law Company’s (PLC) 2011 edition of IP in Business Transactions: PLC Which lawyer?
Gary Ropski is the president of Brinks and a trial lawyer with 35 years of experience in intellectual property. He has litigated in every federal judicial circuit in the United States and in almost all of the top ten districts for patent litigation. Mr. Ropski has participated in more than 100 IP lawsuits, and has received accolades for how he presents and rebuts claims in litigation, making complex topics easily understandable by a jury or judge. Mr. Ropski also taught patent and copyright law for 17 years at the Northwestern University School of Law.
Jerold Jacover served as president of Brinks from 2000 to 2006 and has extensive experience in patent, copyright and unfair competition matters, including litigation and trials. He has successfully tried cases in a variety of industries, including electronic circuitry, remote controls, robotics, electro-mechanical systems, injection molding, and food and beverage equipment. Mr. Jacover is an active member of several associations, including the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago, the Intellectual Property Owners Association and the Richard Linn American Inn of Court.
Raymond Green has been with the firm since 1982 and is the former chair of the Interference Group. Mr. Green focuses his practice on patent prosecution, including patent interferences and re-examinations. He has had primary responsibility for approximately 40 interferences, and several patents he has written and prosecuted have been precedent-setting cases in interference practice. Mr. Green is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago.
