American Heart Association Recognizes Brinks as a Platinum Start! Fit-Friendly Company

CHICAGO – Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione has been recognized as a Platinum Start! Fit-Friendly Company for the third consecutive year by the American Heart Association’s Start! initiative. The recognition applauds Brinks for its efforts to encourage the firm's attorneys and staff to become more physically active and eat in more healthy ways.

To earn Platinum status, Brinks had to fulfill at least nine criteria established by the American Heart Association related to physical activity, nutrition and promoting a culture of wellness in the workplace, then measuring outcomes related to workplace wellness.

Brinks provides heart-healthy lunches, a designated workout space open to all, yoga classes, and seminars on eating and living healthy. Subjects of past seminars have included stress management, cholesterol control, sleep disorders and other subjects relating to well-being. In 2010, Brinks participated in the annual Start! Metro Chicago Heart Walk and raised more than $5,000 for heart research.

"We are honored to be recognized by the American Heart Association’s Start! initiative again this year,” said Brinks president Gary M. Ropski. “Employee wellness is a priority at Brinks. We’re committed to providing the best workplace environment possible, which we strongly believe produces positive results for our firm.”

Founded in 1924, the American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to building healthier lives, free of heart disease and stroke.
