Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Among Top 20 Most Diverse Law Firms in Illinois

CHICAGO – Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., has been named among the top 20 most diverse law firms in Illinois in a survey published in the August 2010 issue of Chicago Lawyer magazine. Chicago Lawyer contacted 200 law firms and received 104 responses which are included in the survey.

Brinks’ Chicago office includes 28 women lawyers, eight of whom are shareholders, and 22 minority lawyers, five of whom are shareholders. Of the 78 associates in the Chicago office, 19 are women and 17 represent minorities. The firm employs 127 attorneys in Illinois and 170 nationwide. Brinks also employs a staff of scientific advisors and patent agents who specialize in intellectual property litigation and all aspects of patent, trademark and copyright law.

"We are committed to adding more women and minority attorneys to our ranks, especially given that intellectual property is a field in which women and minorities historically have been underrepresented even more than in other areas of law," said Gary M. Ropski, Brinks president and a shareholder in the firm.

"Our clients appreciate diversity in our outlook, our opinions and our actions, and we look forward to continued progress in this area," said Ropski.

Brinks continually recruits professionals from diverse backgrounds who are committed to supporting one another and the community. Through mentoring, social interactions and a thoughtful evaluation process, the firm is dedicated to making opportunities available to all.
