CHICAGO – Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., today announced that 19 attorneys at the firm have been named "Illinois Super Lawyers" for 2010, in a survey conducted by Law & Politics magazine. Additionally, 12 Brinks attorneys have been designated "Rising Stars" in Illinois.
"We are very pleased to once again see a significant number of our attorneys named as Super Lawyers in the state where we have our largest office," said Brinks president Gary M. Ropski, who was himself named to this year's list.
Law and Politics surveyed more than 47,000 lawyers practicing in Illinois, representing 70 practice areas, and asked them to identify the best lawyers they had personally worked with or had observed in action. Attorneys from firms of all sizes were considered as well as those in private practice, prosecutors, in-house counsel and public service lawyers.
Meredith Martin Addy, chair of the Appellate Group at Brinks, was named one of the "Top 50 Female Illinois Super Lawyers" for the sixth consecutive year and one of the "Top 100 Illinois Super Lawyers" across all practice areas. Laura Beth Miller, chair of the International Trade Commission Group, was listed as one of the "Top 50 Female Illinois Super Lawyers" for the fourth consecutive year. Addy and Ropski were named among the "Top 100 Illinois Super Lawyers" across all practice areas.
The "Rising Stars" category recognizes lawyers that are under the age of 40 or have been in practice for 10 years or fewer. While up to five percent of lawyers in the state are named to "Super Lawyers," no more than 2.5 percent are named to the "Rising Stars" list.
The complete list appears in the 2010 Illinois Super Lawyers directory, which features articles about attorneys named to the list, and in select consumer magazines, and is distributed to all attorneys in the state, the lead corporate counsel of the Russell 3000 and ABA-approved law school libraries.
