Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione's Jeffrey A. Handelman, a shareholder and chair of the Trademark Group and attorney Christopher A. Harkins, were mentioned in various media on June 24, 2008 as being winners of prestigious 2008 Burton Awards. Mr. Handelman and Brinks won in the category of Best Law Firm Compendium for his "Guide to TTAB Practice, Vol. 1 & 2." Mr. Harkins won an award for Excellence in Legal Writing for his article titled "Fending Off Paper Patents and Patent Trolls: A Novel 'Cold Fusion' Defense Because Changing Times Demand It."
