Robert D. Summers, Jr.

Practice Summary

Mr. Summers has experience handling both U.S. patents and International patents in the electrical and computer arts, including computer systems design, cloud computing architectures, software including open source (OSS), business methods, medical information systems devices and mechanical devices. In particular, he has prepared and prosecuted patents in diverse technologies such as software development tools, health information systems, financial services, insurance underwriting, e-commerce, user interfaces, command and control systems, service oriented architecture (SOA), massively parallel processing, organizational management and consulting services.

Mr. Summers has drafted license agreements, prepared joint venture agreements, prepared non-infringement and right to use studies for a variety of subject matter in systems integration, mechanical and software, and conducted due diligence review of target company patent portfolios, prepared confidential disclosure agreements and advised clients in other Intellectual Property related issues.

Prior to joining Brinks, Mr. Summers worked as a Management Consultant and Information Technology Executive, a program management office (PMO) director responsible for contracts management, deal reviews and financial reporting related to information technology operations. Mr. Summers is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Six Sigma Black Belt, and has extensive experience in the full life-cycle of information technology as an IT consultant, project and program manager, software developer, database administrator and architect, as well as system engineer.
