Michael Hussey
Michael Hussey applies his extensive technology and business experience to help his clients leverage and navigate the complex world of intellectual property law. His clients range from Fortune 500 companies to startups and individuals.
Mr. Hussey has prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in the US and throughout the world, including Europe, China, Japan, India, Korea, Canada and Australia. His practice also includes litigation, opinion counseling, trademark prosecution, and copyright matters. The technologies involved in his practice include software and hardware, such as computer networking, data storage, telecommunications, Voice-over-IP, lighting control systems, Internet-based solutions, electronic circuitry and business methods.
Prior to switching to the field of law, Mr. Hussey worked for technology companies including over a decade for software companies in Silicon Valley. At Oracle Corporation, he was a senior software development manager responsible for database development on Windows and the Macintosh operating systems. At Made2Manage, he was a director of product development responsible for the development of ERP software for manufacturers. At Saba Corporation, he was a software architect who designed and wrote web-based enterprise applications in Java using XML and J2EE technologies.
Mr. Hussey is also involved in pro bono activities. He is a member of the firm's Pro Bono Committee, and regularly volunteers his time to the Indianapolis Bar Association's "Ask a Lawyer Day" program.
- Goss International Americas, Inc. v. Graphic Management Associate, Inc., No. 05-C-5622 (N.D. Ill., May 30, 2008). Subject: Third party subpoena of our client, WRH Marketing Americas; Defendant files objections to the Magistrate Judge's denial of all discovery against WRH Marketing Americas. Resolution: District Judge affirms ruling regarding irrelevance as to marking of products and alleged non-infringing substitutes, but remands to the Magistrate Judge for further consideration. On remand, the Magistrate Judge orders only extremely limited discovery.
