Lawrence A. Steward

Mr. Steward is primarily involved in counseling corporations and individuals in connection with the protection and management of their intellectual property assets, and the enforcement of their intellectual property rights.  His areas of emphasis include the preparation of validity and infringement opinions, preparation and prosecution of applications for obtaining intellectual property protection, intellectual property litigation, negotiation and preparation of agreements dealing with intellectual property assets, and infringement avoidance counseling.  From 1998-2002, Mr. Steward was the managing attorney of the Firm's Indianapolis office.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Steward was an analytical chemist for a Fortune 500 company.  He analyzed raw materials for use in glass and plastics production, analyzed chemical and physical properties of finished materials, and was responsible for trouble-shooting related to various products or formulations.  Mr. Steward was also a forensic chemist for a governmental agency. His primary areas of emphasis involved the chemical and physical analysis of potential evidentiary materials, and interpretation of the results for criminal investigation and possible prosecution.  He was also involved in the training and certification of law enforcement personnel relating to impaired driving programs.  Mr. Steward testified in court on a regular basis as an expert witness relating to scientific issues, including the analysis of physical evidence and the operation and maintenance of equipment utilized in the impaired driving program.
