Eric D. Cohen

Practice Summary

Mr. Cohen focuses his practice on patent prosecution, patent preparation and client counseling, including responses to office actions, appeal briefs and other substantive responses, trademark prosecution and licensing. He has assisted clients in many technologies, such as electrical and electronic devices, antenna systems, microwave devices, digital and analog electronics, digital signal processing, digital filtering, finite impulse response filters (FIR), navigation systems, mechanical devices, automated industrial equipment, computers and software, telecommunications equipment, call center technology, wireless communication and computer applications, medical devices and instruments, dental appliances, sporting equipment, audio applications and business methods.

Over the past decade, Mr. Cohen has prepared over one hundred opinions, including clearance opinions (non-infringement) and invalidity opinions relating to both utility patents and design patents. Mr. Cohen has also prepared numerous opinions of infringement (pre-filing investigation for infringement complaint) and novelty opinions. In addition, he has prepared trademark usage and clearance opinions.

Mr. Cohen has extensive engineering experience and was a systems engineer and programmer for more than twelve years before attending law school. Prior to attending law school, he was a systems and software engineer for Pharmacia Diagnostics Corporation and has worked at various companies in Silicon Valley.
