Edward Machado
Mr. Machado focuses his practice on patent prosecution in the electrical, computer, and software fields. He has prosecuted patents in a diverse set of technological fields that include communication systems, such as GSM, UMTS, WCDMA; semiconductor fabrication processes; power, timer, and network circuits; and connector technology to name a few. In addition to these technologies, Mr. Machado has prosecuted patents in other areas that include software, mechanical, and business method.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Machado worked as a research and development engineer at both Zenith Electronics Corp. and Motorola Corp. (now Motorola Mobility Corp.) Between these two companies, Mr. Machado has developed various television related circuits, including power supply circuits, CRT power circuits, analog and digital video processing circuits, and various ASICs targeting HDTV. He has developed both hardware and software for various mobile phones including Motorola’s first GPRS and UMTS mobile phones. He has working knowledge of various software languages including C#, C++, C, BASIC, PERL, TCL/TK and assembly language.
In 2004, Mr. Machado joined the Motorola patent licensing team. There he was involved in various activities related to Motorola's offensive and defensive licensing program.
