Danielle Anne Phillip
Ms. Phillip’s practice encompasses patent, trademark, and copyright litigation. She has represented clients in the federal courts, as well as in administrative hearings. Ms. Phillip has experience in all aspects of litigation, including discovery and motion practice; preparation of witnesses for, and defending, depositions; working with experts; conducting client and witness interviews; and preparation for, assistance and participation at trial. She has previously represented major tobacco, major multi-level marketing, and medical device companies and an internet service provider in patent infringement litigations.
Ms. Phillip is a member of the Black Women Lawyers’ Association’s Mentoring Committee.

- AOL, Inc. v. Yahoo! Inc. (S.D.N.Y. 2010-2011). Subject: Patent Infringement. Ms. Phillip represented defendant Yahoo! Inc. Case settled on confidential terms.
- Star Scientific, Inc. v. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. (D. Md.). Multi-patent infringement case involving two patents relating to tobacco curing barns and methods for treating tobacco to yield low tobacco-specific nitrosamines. Star Scientific sought damages in excess of $1 billion. On June 16, 2009, after a four-week trial, a 12-person jury ruled in favor of RJR on all issues. District Court entered final judgment on a jury verdict of patent non-infringement and invalidity (based on anticipation, obviousness, indefiniteness and failure to disclose the best mode) in favor of client RJR. The Federal Circuit affirmed the jury verdict of patent non-infringement on August 26, 2011.
